We're the Alexander family, and everything we do is built around faith, family, and a lifelong love of animals. My husband, Jonathan, and I (Sky) are raising our family on acreage in beautiful South Alabama, where our children are growing up surrounded by our animals and fresh air, teaching them the same values that guide our breeding program—kindness, responsibility, integrity, hard work, compassion, and respect for every life in our care. 

Our dogs aren't just part of our program—they're part of our family. They share our home, our daily routines, and our hearts. We believe that how a puppy is raised during its first weeks of life lays the foundation for the companion it will become, which is why every litter receives individualized attention, early neurological stimulation, early socialization, and endless love from our family.

A Foundation in Veterinary Medicine

Long before Mesquite Creek Kennels was established, I knew my life would revolve around animals.

Growing up surrounded by them inspired me to pursue a career as a veterinary technician, where I spent six years gaining hands-on experience in preventive medicine, reproduction, neonatal puppy care, surgery, emergency medicine, and overall canine health.

That experience continues to shape every decision we make as breeders. It gives us the knowledge and confidence to prioritize health, structure, temperament, and responsible breeding practices above everything else.

Why We Chose the Presa Canario

It all started during my time as a veterinary technician when I met an incredible Presa Canario named Saint. From that moment on, I knew this was the breed that perfectly matched our family's lifestyle. Their confidence, intelligence, unwavering loyalty, and deep devotion to their families completely captured our hearts.

Over the next seven months, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about the breed. After countless hours of research, we placed a deposit on our very first Presa Canario—Valhalla—before she was even born. As fate would have it, she is Saint's younger sister, making the beginning of our journey feel like it was always meant to be.

Today, that same passion is the foundation of Mesquite Creek Presas. We don't breed simply to produce puppies—we breed with purpose. Every breeding is thoughtfully planned with health, temperament, structure, and preservation in mind, ensuring each puppy reflects the qualities that made us fall in love with the Presa Canario in the first place.

Why We Added Miniature Dachshunds

Although the Presa Canario remains the heart of our program, our love for dogs eventually led us to another incredible breed—the Miniature Dachshund.

Their playful personalities, fearless attitudes, intelligence, and unwavering devotion quickly earned a permanent place in our family. While they couldn't be more different in size, they share many of the same qualities we value most: loyalty, confidence, and the ability to form deep connections with their people.

Our Dachshunds are held to the very same standards as our Presas. We carefully select breeding dogs, complete appropriate health testing, and focus on producing healthy, well-rounded puppies with exceptional temperaments.

More Than Breeders

While responsible breeding is at the heart of what we do, our passion for animals extends beyond our breeding program.

We also offer limited in-home boarding and professional nationwide pet transportation, allowing us to continue serving families when they bring home one puppies from breeders all over the United States. Whether we're caring for your dog while you're away or safely transporting a new family member across the country, every animal is treated with the same love and attention we'd expect for our own.
